Rev. Abernathy took over the leadership of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He led the Poor People's Campaign which brought thousands of poor—Black, White, Latino, and Native American—to Washington, D.C.

In response to the Federal Government's recommendations and guidelines regarding Corona virus (COVID-19), and KSEF's deepest concern and commitment to the health and well being of our dedicated supporters , the 11th Annual Jazz Soul Food and Silent Auction Affair scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2020 at the Patient and Trademark Office (PTO) has been rescheduled to Sunday 3, May 2020 at the same location.
