GREETINGS!
Welcome to the website of the Alexandria-Fairfax (Virginia) Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund (KSEF) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization chartered in the State of Virginia. The Fund was established on March 8, 1990 at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC. Our primary purpose is to provide educational scholarships, grants, loans, and other types of financial aid to worthy African-American college-bound students and prospective college students who might find it difficult to attend college otherwise. Scholars are awarded $8,000 scholarships allocated across a four-year college enrollment period. In addition to scholarship, KSEF’s secondary purpose is to promote the general welfare and the development of youth. We were formed to address the needs of the Northern Virginia community by providing financial assistance to deserving students.
KSEF operates on the premise that education is the PRIMARY factor in achieving success in today’s highly competitive world, and our youth should always be given the opportunity to obtain an education; especially those whose families have limited resources. KSEF is dedicated to providing financial assistance to deserving students. Our motto is:
“To Provide Training For The Leaders of Tomorrow.”
The Fund monitors our scholars throughout their college years in order to provide mentorship, career counseling, job placement assistance, and simple encouragement. Our scholars are accepted into accredited colleges and universities nationwide, and we are proud to boast a 90% graduation rate among our scholarship recipients. We are extremely proud of the dynamic educational and training programs executed under KSEF.
In addition to the scholarship programs, KSEF is a major supporter of the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter’s “Guide Right” Program. “Guide Right” is geared towards the students' self-development, respect for one’s culture, self-worth and personal achievement. The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc., supports the following programs:
- KAMP KAPPA – (Ages 10-16) Positive outdoor, educational experiences structured to provide activities that foster the spirit of team building, self-respect, and respect for others. The camp is held annually at Camp William B. Snyder "Cubworld" in Haymarket, Virginia.
- KAPPA LEAGUE/JR. KAPPA LEAGUE – (Ages 10-18) Providing mentoring, tutoring and guidance through leadership. The goal is personal growth and developing leadership skills. The Kappa League programs meet monthly at Thomas Jefferson Middle School located in Arlington, VA.
